Welcome in Auerbach, Germany! In the midst of the touristic area of Vogtland, the perfect place for summer and winter and many sports activities. Walking, cycling, mountainbiking or skiing, everything’s possible here. And on top of that you are in a culturally rich area of Germany, where there are beautiful large and small towns.

Shopping and city trips

Spend a whole day shopping and enjoying the atmosphere of this city in Germany! In the attractive pedestrian area of Auerbach, shops and boutiques are in great plenty (Brochure ‘Auerbach. Natürlich im Vogtland’). You’re already in the city center within 5 minutes. The smaller cities and towns in the surroundings are worth sightseeing. If you’re searching a nice Christmas present, the ‘Weihnachtsland Erlebniswelt’ in Stützengrün might be your place to go. They sell self produced wooden art for Christmas, and for the rest of the year (www.weihnachtsland-erlebniswelt.de).

Skiing areas

Do you love action and physical activity during winter months? The surroundings of our group accomodation offers optimal winter sports accomodations. Within 5 km of Auerbach you’ll find well maintained and extensive Langlauf routes in Beerheide and Schnarrtanne. Another route that’s near is Kammloipe, one of the longest and most beautiful routes along the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. If you’re looking for more action, there are popular ski slopes 15 km away. Klingental, Mühlleithen, Schöneck en Erlbach are known for their ski runs and snowboarding. Of course there are ski lifts on all slopes. These ski slopes are well reachable by train and bus from our hotel (Brochure ‘Auerbach. Natürlich im Vogtland’). The Vogtland Express stops at all large nature and ski areas, including Klingental, Schöneck and Oberwiesenthal.

Walking in Germany

Do you want to experience the multifaceted nature during a walk? You can do this on the approximately 3000 km certified walking routes across Vogtland, whether you’re young or old. Through the vast green landscape, via gentle hills and forests you’ll enjoy nature freely. There are five certified walking routes near, of which one is the 288 km long ‘Vogtland Panorama road®‘ with as much as 82 panorama views and 380 resting points. For shorter walks you can choose the 10 km routes around Auerbach. These are great for a walk with your family and children. Several routes go across countless sights and touristic destinations in Germany. During the winter you can walk a lovely winter route through the forest (brochure ‘Reisezeit Vogtland’).

History, castles and museums

Auerbach and its surroundings in Germany have many cultural places to go. In the museum of Auerbach you can find all about the rich traditions and history of this German city. Besides the year round exhibition about the city, castle and industrial history, you’ll find an outdoor space called ‘eye witnesses of stone’ that make you relive the story of the Middle Ages. Other things wortwhile seeing in Auerbach are the ‘Schlossberg’ with the castle tower, the St. Laurentius Church and Göltzschtalgalerie in the Nicolai Church. Several museums can be visited, for example the Renaissance castle of Göltzsch from the fifteenth century or the observatory and planatarium ‘Sigmund Jahn’ in Rodewisch.

Cycling routes

Do you enjoy an active cycling holiday? Vogtland has a well expanded road network with many meaningful cycling routes in the surroundings. These routes pass by beautiful German nature areas and are suitable for mountain bikes as well as bicycles. In biking area Schöneck alone, there is 130 km of adventurous routes for mountain bikers with several downhill trajectories. In August there is a yearly activity called the Vogtland Bike Marathon. For those who want to ride through a more quiet area there are more than enough routes across Vogtland. These are especially interesting for beginners and families with children. We suggest the new cycling route from Falkenstein to Oelsnitz on the former train embankment. But there are other beautiful roads too along the rivers in Germany with beautiful impressions of nature.

Prague

Would you like to explore across the border of Germany, to the golden city with 100 towers? This is quite doable from our group accomodation; Prague is only at a 200 km distance in the Czech Republic. This city is rich in history and culture and there are many sites worth visiting. At the same time, Prague is well known for its nice shops and boutiques.

Swimming pools and theme parks

During the summer you can swim on different locations in the vicinity of Auerbach. There are open air swimming pools in Reumtengrün and Rebesgrün, and you can visit one of the weirs in Pöhl, Pirk and Falkenstein. It’s possible to do water sports. Close to the weir in Pöhl you can entertain yourself quite well in the climbing park.

Do your kids want to go wild? The theme park in Plohn will give you fun and action for a whole day!

Cultural activities in Germany

The city Auerbach, close to the border between Germany and the Czech Replublic, has many cultural hot spots. Do you want to experience a guided city tour? There are different kinds of tours in Auerbach, one of which is a historic tour that includes music. Historical facts and episodes are accompanied with ancient music.

If you’re into theatrical performances or high quality music concerts you can visit the Göltzschtalgalerie in the Nicolai Church in Auerbach. Also, the St. Laurentius Church organises church concerts regularly.

In August you can come celebrate the historical ‘Altmarkfest’ (first weekend) and/or on the traditional pots market (third weekend) in Auerbach. On the third sunday of September there’s a fair.

During the winter there also are fun activities. From the first advent Sunday you’ll find a Christmas exhibition in the town’s museum. On first advent Sunday you can visit the fairy tale parade, on second advent Sunday there is a mine parade. Of course there is a Christmas market as well. And it’s mentioned as the most beautiful Christmas market in German Vogtland.

At the end of January you can experience the world championships North combination in Klingenthal, and during the summer you can view the indoor summer ski jumping in the Vogtland Arena.
